Described once as “Periphery meets Disney” UK progressive metal outfit Vanitas have been forging their unique blend of djent and symphonic elements since 2022; creating what they’ve coined ‘cinematic djent’. Inspired by bands such as: Periphery, Devin Townsend and Dream Theater, Vanitas are known for their soaring melodies, cinematic production and immersive, maximalist production. The Birmingham 5-piece have wasted no time establishing themselves in the UK music scene with dynamic live performances supporting acts in the past such as Monuments, Voyager, Galactic Empire & Destrage.

In 2024, Vanitas returned mature and dangerous with their sophomore EP ‘Chaos Theory’ racking up 70K+ streams with a combined 87K+ views on their official music videos and multiple positive reviews since its release in August 2024, establishing their cult following. Vanitas debuted “Chaos Theory” live with a sold-out hometown show at The Flapper, Birmingham and their debut UK tour including an appearance at 2023’s UK best micro-festival: Burn it Down Festival alongside the likes of Wargasm, Lake Malice, Creeper, Caskets & more.

In 2025, Vanitas proved that their determination is second to none, following a waterfall release of the singles ‘Your Demise’, ‘Lucid Dreams’ and ‘Eclipse’ and airplay on BBC Radio 1, Vanitas have released their most ambitious EP yet this August: ‘Journey to the Sun’.

Journey to the Sun is a high-intensity concept exploring the themes of adventure, hope, hardship and triumph- an epic tale, told through the medium of immersive storytelling across the soundscape, lyrics, art and music videos. Placing the listener as the protagonist of their own chronicle, Vanitas embark on a new journey and are inviting you to join them.
